Tips sought in golf cart thefts

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the felony theft of three golf carts from Cajun Pines Golf Club, located on Golf Course Road in the Branch community on the night of July 26. Unknown suspects gained entry into the storage building and stole three golf carts.

Wreck kills Maurice man

At about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on La. 10 near La. 182 in St. Landry Parish. The crash took the life of 45-year-old Daniel Scott Palmer of Maurice.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

Firefighters get an app and you might be safer

The Eunice Fire Department recently acquired an application that probably makes us a bit safer. Fire Chief Mike Arnold said, “Nothing is foolproof, but this is pretty good. I’m impressed.” The application is Active 911 and firefighters here have been working with it since April.

Sheriff launches ‘contactless’ crime reporting

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz has started a Contactless Self-Reporting System that allows citizens to file a crime report online. Guidroz stressed the system is for minor crimes in his announcement on Monday.

2 people wounded in shootings inside vehicles

Eunice Police investigated two shootings that occurred inside vehicles and ruled both accidental. In the first incident, Police received a call from McDonald’s at 10:44 p.m. Sunday about a subject shooting himself in the foot, Chief Randy Fontenot said.
