Arrest made in drive-by shooting death

Eunice Police arrested Demyron L Skinner, 19, on Saturday and charged him with second-degree murder in the drive-by shooting death of a 21-year-old man on Nov. 4, according to news release from Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. Skinner is accused in the death of De’Omaante K.

Murder trial set on Church Point victim’s birthday

The man charged with the 2016 murder of Church Point native Bethany Walters is scheduled to go to trial on what would have been the young woman’s 26th birthday. The victim’s mother, Cindy Walters, said, “The judge set the trial to start on April 28 of next year. That would have been her birthday.

The Eunice Fire Chief Michael Arnold announced Friday that the city’s fire rating has improved from 4 to 3. The area outside of the city limits in St. Landry Fire District 6 and Acadia Fire District 4 also improved from a 6 to a 5, he stated.
