Gibson hosts ‘Coffee With the Sheriff’

K.P. Gibson continued his quarterly “Coffee with the Sheriff” program before a sizeable crowd Saturday morning at The Rice Palace. The sheriff implemented the program when he took office 18 months ago and has hosted such events in various areas of the parish since.

Crime Stoppers seeks 2 suspects; One for a theft, the other for a burglary

St Landry Crime Stoppers is asking the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.    Angela M. Barnaba, 44 of the 3300 block of Hwy. 93 Sunset, is wanted for a Jan. 8 theft from the Spirit Truck Stop in Eunice.

Morgan City police officer fired, charged with malfeasance

A Morgan City police officer has been fired and charged with malfeasance in office after investigators discovered that she failed to report that illegal activity was taking place inside a Short Street home, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

Lafayette woman pleads guilty to stealing nearly $1.5M from Broussard business

United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook announced that a Lafayette woman pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing almost $1.5 million from a Broussard oilfield related company. Susan M. Benoit, 54, of Lafayette, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Hanna to two counts of wire fraud.
