Hardy Memorial in Abbeville honors fallen officers

Dozens gathered at the Abbeville Police Department Friday morning to honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty as part of the annual John “Dooley” Hardy Memorial. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Hardy’s death.

Male, 23, killed during Christmas party melee

A 23-year-old male was shot dead in an early Saturday morning shooting during a Christmas party at the Southeast Community Center, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. Police were called to the scene about 1:20 a.m.

The Eunice Police Department collected toys and food for five families to be distributed on Friday. The toys and food came form employees, the public, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the fire department.

EPSO arrest two; confiscates 430 grams of meth

On Monday, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported a drug bust that occurred on December 11, 2017, where 430 grams of Methamphetamine were confiscated and Christopher Bolfa and James T. Wall, Jr. were arrested.

New Police Chief Richard “Ricky” Martin has begun a renewed effort to solve three cold murder cases, including one going back to 2014. The victims were: •Casey Alexander, 28, who was shot during a home invasion in 2014.
