A reader, a former police officer as it turns out, came by the office to ask a few questions about a recent high-speed chase that began in Bunkie with an escape of a “disturbing the peace” suspect. The suspect took a delivery truck, fled and ended up crashing into a building in Mansura.

Power to be shut off Wednesday in Erath for repairs

ERATH — The Town of Erath will be without power early Wednesday. Mayor John Earl LeBlanc announced Monday afternoon that power will be shut off from midnight on Wednesday until 4 a.m. This will allow crews from Entergy to make repairs.

CLECO likely pick to provide power to city

Although the decision has not been made official, consultant Jim Poché, of Poché, Prouet and Associates, told the St. Martinville city council Monday that it appears CLECO has tendered the most advantageous bid for providing wholesale electricity to the city.

Patterson council joins opioid litigation

PATTERSON — The city council has joined the effort to hold Big Pharma accountable for the opioid crisis. On Tuesday, the council voted unanimously to become one of the Louisiana communities represented by a group of attorneys in a possible lawsuit to reclaim the financial costs of opioid abuse.
