Winter is planning, planting, maintenance time

Luckily, we’ve gotten a reprieve from cutting grass and the extreme, hot weather. Time to put away the mowers and weed trimmers. The winter months provide us an opportunity to focus on landscape planning, planting and maintenance.

Experienced health care leader is UL Lafayette’s new chief strategy officer

Dr. Kristi L. Anderson, an experienced health care leader, researcher and educator, is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s chief strategy officer. Anderson is the first person to hold the newly created position.

Constitutional amendments pass

Voters passed three constitutional amendments in Saturday’s election. Amendment 1 passed with 73% of the 428,485 votes cast in the state. The amendment requires U.S. citizenship to register and vote in Louisiana. The amendment also passed with 69% of the St.

Citrus is the most popular kind of fruit grown in Louisiana. This time of year, satsumas and other types of citrus are abundant — and delicious. Several biotic and abiotic stresses affect citrus yields, however, and may dishearten home gardeners when they cannot enjoy their harvest.

LPB to air two-part documentary about Louisiana history, culture

“Why Louisiana Ain’t Mississippi… Or Any Place Else!” That’s the apt name of Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s new, two-part documentary running next week that producers describe as a whirlwind tour of Louisiana’s history. Louisiana Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne inspired the program.
