DOTD report lists its 2021 accomplishments

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) looks back on its accomplishments in 2021. Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, a total of 228 projects consisting of 1,062.12 miles were let around the state, equaling an investment of $630.8 million.

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Revenue will begin accepting 2021 state individual income tax returns on Jan. 24. The date coincides with the date the IRS begins accepting 2021 federal income tax returns. On Jan.

Bible Marathon returns

ST. MARTINVILLE – Fête-Dieu du Teche in conjunction with St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church will host the annual Bible Marathon beginning at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and concluding on Word of God at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 23.

Governor: Most COVID reinfections in La. are among unvaccinated

People who have not received a coronavirus vaccine account for the majority of those who have contracted COVID-19 more than once, according to data Gov. John Bel Edwards shared Thursday. From September through December 2021, 60% percent of reinfections were among the unvaccinated, the governor said.

Louisiana struggles to solve murders as homicide rates rise

Chlanda Gibson was in her bed last April when she heard loud pops outside her window. She had fallen asleep while waiting for her son, 17-year-old Roddrick Cook, to come home after going out with friends.
