Police chief requests support from U.S. Marshals Service

Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux has requested the U.S. Marshals Service’s assistance in locating an Opelousas man who is wanted on six counts of attempted second degree murder as well as a juvenile who is wanted on accessory charges.

14-year-old boy killed in Church Point shooting

A 14-year-old boy is dead and an 18-year-old is in jail following a shooting in Church Point Tuesday night. Sheriff K.P. Gibson said the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Church Point Police conducted an investigation into the incident in the corporate limits of Church Point.

Police: Brother killed brother

A Church Point man has been accused of murder in the fatal shooting of his brother here Friday morning. Elvin Moore, 65, of Church Point, was arrested by the Church Point Police on a charge of second-degree murder. According to a news release from the Church Point Police, about 4 a.m.

Church Point Police seek man wanted in shooting

Church Point police are seeking the public’s assistance to locate Curtis E. Guidry. Guidry is wanted for a shooting that occurred at the Martin Luther King Park in Church Point on May 23. Guidry is accused of firing several rounds at a vehicle occupied by two individuals.

Church Point Police seek information to find suspect

Church Point Police are seeking the public’s assistance regarding a Dec. 21, 2018, shooting which occurred at the Martin Luther King Park at 5:25 p.m.  Officers discovered that two people were shot during a robbery. Both victims received non-life threatening injuries.

Police investigating fight during Church Point Mardi Gras parade

Church Point Police are investigating a fight that took place during its Mardi Gras parade. Chief Albert Venable says the fight is under investigation, and detectives are interviewing witnesses. One of the men in the fight was knock out after his head hit a trailer.
