Dooley shines for Delcambre

Delcambre junior quarterback Colt Dooley ran for 182 yards and threw for another 81 yards in the Panthers’ 35-25 loss to Ascension Christian. His longest run was a 33-yard run. He also scored two TDs on 1-yard TD runs. He led the team in carries with 27. He also threw two touchdowns.

VC too much for Gueydan

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles were too much for the Gueydan Bears, cruising to a 48-0 victory on Friday in Abbeville. It was 21-0 after the first quarter and 41-0 at half time.

Berwick run over by Kaplan's Mac

The Berwick Panthers were run over by a “Mac” on Friday, in Kaplan. That Mac was Mac Thibeaux of the Kaplan Pirates. Thibeaux rushed for a career high 302-yards and scored three touchdowns to help the Pirates beat the Panthers, 46-28, in front of a homecoming crowd.

Basile picks up huge win over Elton; win streak now at three

ELTON -- It has been a tale of two seasons for the Basile Bearcats. After starting the year at 1-3, Basile had reeled off two wins in a row and was looking to make it three in a row when they travelled down Highway 190 Thursday night to take on long time rival Elton High School.

Ville Platte falls hard to Kinder 49-8

VILLE PLATTE -- It was not a good night offensively for the Ville Platte High Bulldogs, as they took one on the chin in a 49-8 loss to the Kinder Yellow Jackets here Friday night. With the loss, Ville Platte falls to 2-5 on the year and 0-2 in district play.

Lady Pios sweep Patterson

The Notre Dame Lady Pios ran their winning streak to 10 games on Monday with a sweep of Patterson in district action. The Lady Pios (22-7, 2-0) claimed the first set, 25-12, and then completed the sweep with a pair of easy victories, 25-7 and 25-6.

Bobcats run past Panthers

PINE PRAIRIE – The Eunice High Bobcats and the Pine Prairie Panthers made use of effective rushing attacks in a 5-3A showdown Friday night at Panther Stadium. Both teams struggled in the early going with each team turning over the football on fumbles.

Berwick to travel to Kaplan Friday

The Berwick High School Panthers will continue District 8-3A action Friday when they travel to face Kaplan High School. Berwick (5-1 overall, 1-0 in district) enters the contest ranked No. 9 in the latest Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A poll.
