Rayne claims district win over Carencro

What many said would never happen, did so Thursday night as the Rayne High Wolves defeated the Carencro High Bears, 31-21. The win brings the Wolves to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in district play for the 2017 season thus far.

Jays surge past Hornets, 29-7

Grand Lake scored first, but the Blue Jays scored 29 unanswered points as St. Edmund earned a 29-7 homecoming win over the Hornets. With the victory, the Blue Jays improved to 7-1 overall, 5-0 in District 4-1A. Grand Lake falls to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in district play.

Bobcats crush Demons, 53-8

MAMOU – The Eunice High Bobcats evened their overall record to 4-4 Friday night with a 53-8 victory over the Mamou High Green Demons in District 5-3A action.

Blue Jays to celebrate homecoming Friday

After defeating two ranked teams in a row, the Blue Jays are in the driver’s seat for the District 4-1A title. But St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargoder said his team still can’t let down against Grand Lake (1-5, 0-4) as the Blue Jays (6-1, 4-0) celebrate homecoming at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Bobcats visit Green Demons

The Bobcats have won two straight in district and are hoping to stay in the playoff hunt with a road win over Mamou Friday. “We are fighting to get to .500,” Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair said. “We are getting better each week.

Abbeville almost pulls off upset against Patterson

The Abbeville Wildcats actually outplayed the Patterson Lumberjacks for three out of the four quarters. It was that one quarter that cost them the game. The Wildcats fell 34-24 to Patterson in front of a homecoming crowd.

Dooley shines for Delcambre

Delcambre junior quarterback Colt Dooley ran for 182 yards and threw for another 81 yards in the Panthers’ 35-25 loss to Ascension Christian. His longest run was a 33-yard run. He also scored two TDs on 1-yard TD runs. He led the team in carries with 27. He also threw two touchdowns.

VC too much for Gueydan

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles were too much for the Gueydan Bears, cruising to a 48-0 victory on Friday in Abbeville. It was 21-0 after the first quarter and 41-0 at half time.
