4-1A All-District team released

St. Edmund captured its first district football championshipsince 2014 as the Blue Jays went 7-0 in District 4-1A and finished 10-2 overall. Second-year St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder was named District Coach of the Year.

Tigers run past Bobcats

Eunice opened Thursday’s game with a quick lead, but Breaux Bridge finished with a 84-42 win over the Bobcats. The Tigers rolled to a 25-11 first quarter advantage, led by 11 points from Terry Steward. Carlin Vigers led EHS with eight points and Mykal Moore added a three-pointer in the period.

Cecilia downs Lady Cats

CECILIA – The Eunice High School Lady Bobcats dropped a 53-44 decision to the Cecilia High Lady Bulldogs in non-district basketball action. The Lady Bobcats, now 7-3, were outscored 9-8 in the first quarter, with Cordel Batiste leading the Lady Bulldogs with seven points.

Lady Cats off to hot start

ELTON – The Eunice Highl Lady Bobcats dropped a 58-50 decision to the Lady Bulldogs of Jennings as they completed play at the Elton High Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead by outscoring the Lady Bobcats by a 14-9 margin in the first quarter.

5-3A All-District released

Church Point captured its first out-right District 5-3A football championship as the Bears went 7-0 in district and finished 9-2 overall. John Craig Arceneaux was named Coach of the Year, while Bear running back Rodney Dupuis was named Offensive MVP.

Warriors run past Blue Jays

In their second game under new head coach Kevin Straub, St. Edmund fell 56-32 to Northaide Christian Thursday night at the Blue Jay gym. The Warriors (1-11) picked up its first win of the season, while St. Edmund dropped to 0-2.

Lady Jays fall in tourney

ELTON – The Lady Jays faced a familar foe in the Elton tournament as Gueydan handed St. Edmund a 51-32 loss Wednesday night. The two teams faced each other at St. Edmund the night before as the Honey Bears earned a 56-36 win.

Lady Cats grab key win

ELTON – The Eunice High School Lady Bobcats continued their hot start Wednesday at the Elton High Basketball Tournament with a 48-45 victory over the Westlake High Lady Rams.

Gueydan sweeps Blue Jays

Gueydan spoiled St. Edmund’s home opener Tuesday night with a sweep over the Blue Jays. In the girls action, the Honey Bears (3-3) rolled to a 56-36 victory over the Lady Jays (2-3). Gueydan jumped out to a 6-0 lead, sparked by four points from Kendra Petry.

Lady Cats slip past Kaplan

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats improved their record to 5-1 with a 43-41 victory over the Lady Pirates of Kaplan High School in basketball action Tuesday night at the Bobcat gym.
