Eunice High School students celebrate Homecoming Week

Eunice High School students are celebrating Homecoming this week with out-of-uniform dress days. On Monday and Tuesday seniors will dress in togas and underclass students will have designated colors to dress in.

It’s time for caterpillars, butterflies, moths

If you’ve spent any time outside or in the garden here lately, you are sure to have noticed a frenzy of insect activity. Insects, including bees, butterflies, caterpillars and moths, are in full force this fall. Fall is especially busy for caterpillars.

CDA recognized

Business Garden of the Month

The business of Drs. Fink & Moser, Optometrists, located at 301 S. 2nd Street in Eunice received the marker of Business Garden of the Month by the Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club.

Residential Garden of the Month

St. Edmund Elementary students perform experiments

St. Edmund Elementary’s Heather Bertrand’s fifth graders are studying heterogeneous and homogeneous mixtures. They made Chex Mix to represent a heterogenous mixture. They also combined powdered lemonade and water to use as an example for a homogenous mixture. Above is Sara Miller.

How to prevent car theft

Deter thieves by keeping valuables out of sight. I do not leave anything in sight inside my car. Few motorists think much about preventing vehicle theft, until their cars are stolen.

Get it growing: Time to harvest caladium bulbs

Its fall, and we’ve already had our harvest moon. Fall provides cooler weather, so we can get back out into the gardens, lawns and landscapes comfortably. Fall marks harvesttime for many crops, such as pumpkins and other squash, persimmons, tangerines, Asian pears, apples and, of course, satsumas.
