Residential Garden of the Month chosen

Bulb and Blossom Garden Club volunteer member Celeste Gomez presented the Residential Yard of the Month marker to Laurie and Bill Fontenot of 1310 Duck Avenue. The home features front landscaped flowering beds of sago palms, camellias, knock out roses, pansies, snap dragons, holly and green liriope.

Pennies for Patients at East Elementary

Pennies for Patients program at East Elementary was a success as students raised over $1,900 for leukemia lymphoma society. Earning first place with monies raised was second graders in Merline Bollich’s class.

Treats donated to Highland

Nathan Austin, a managing partner with Sonic, left, donated Route 44 coupons, corn dogs and cinna snacks from Sonic of Eunice as a snack treat for Highland Elementary’s monthly faculty meeting. Sonic of Eunice has partnered with the school donating to students and faculty.

Highland’s Student of Week

Maria Mendoza, a fourth grader at Highland Elementary, was selected as this week’s (March 25th week) Sonic Student of the Week at Highland. She was nominated for scoring all perfect scores on her Accelerated Reading quizzes during the third nine weeks.
