A large watermelon

Kenneth “Super” Sonnier stopped by at The Eunice News office to show off a 50-pound watermelon. The red meat melon was picked from Smith County Melons in Mize, Mississippi. Mize is located 50 miles southeast of Jackson, Miss.

Birth Announcements

Olivia Langley Alaina Sonnier and Seth Langley of Kinder announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Ann- Frances Langley, born at Acadian Medical Center on July 10 weighing 7 pounds and 14.2 ounces. She was welcomed home by her brothers Jaxxon Langley and Ayden Fontenot.

Camp Bonjour at Jean Lafitte Center

The Jean Lafitte Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice offered a summer fun camp “Camp Bonjour” this week for kids ages 6 to 8. Kids learned more about Cajun, Creole, and Native American cultures and the history of Louisiana and they also learned more about the National Park Service.

Don Fontenot at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by Don Fontenot & Friends of Louisiana. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.
