Crawfish Étouffée Cook-off is Saturday

For the first time in its 37-year history, the World Championship Crawfish Étouffée Cook-off is scheduled on Saturday. The Cook-off celebrates the crawfish, which is a culinary favorite and economic champion for Eunice and south Louisiana.

Eunice Junior High School Principal Casey Daville Comeaux is a semi-finalist for Louisiana Principal of the Year. The state Department of Education announced semi-finalists for teacher, principal of the year, and finalists for early childhood and new teacher.

Belly Buddies Color Fun Run set April 13 There will be a Belly Buddies Color Fun Run in downtown Eunice from 10 a.m. until noon on April 13. All proceeds will go to Belly Buddies, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide food to Eunice’s most vulnerable students.

Garden Club replacing tree markers at Walking Park

The Bulb & Blossom Garden Club in Eunice was founded in 1948. The club was federated in 1950. As a federated club, the Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club belongs to the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, and the Deep South Federation, and is a member of the National Garden Club.

Balfa Week begins Tuesday

The Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week will be held Tuesday through March 24 at Lakeview Park & Beach. In December, Jeanne Solis, executive director of Louisiana Folk Roots, said this will be the 21st Balfa Week and the second time to be held in Eunice.
