ECCBC announces rehearsals for summer season The Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir will begin rehearsals for its 2022 summer season on May 9 and 10. Performances will be July 14 and 15 at First Baptist Church, Eunice and features the community concert band, adult choir and children’s choir.

Trash concerns raised

Trash pickup concerns were raised at the Eunice city meeting last week and at a Parish Council meeting on April 6. Concerns at Eunice were about the amount of litter in the city, but the question raised at the parish meeting is perhaps more important.

Volunteers sought for city cleanup

Volunteers are needed for a Keep Eunice Beautiful cleanup campaign on April 23. Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful, said the city’s campaign is in conjunction with the, state effort Love the Boot, planned from April 18 to 24.

Garber Farms produces 20% of the state’s sweet potatoes

The Garber Family has been growing grains and vegetables in South Louisiana since 1881. They presently have three generations working together to produce sweet potatoes.

Easter ham winners announced

Eunice News and partnering business gave away 24 hams. Hams vouchers are to be picked up from Eunice News Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vouchers are to be redeemed at Champagne’s. The deadline to redeem hams is April 28.

Eunice Symphony Orchestra resumes The Eunice Symphony Orchestra has resumed rehearsals and concerts after a two-year hiatus due to COVID. There are openings for new members, particularly string players.
