An Army private lost 79 years ago in the World War II battle on Guadalcanal is returning home for burial in Washington.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced Army Pvt. Hillary Soileau, 23, of Whiteville, killed during World War II, was accounted for Dec. 8, 2020.

Some Cleco customers eligible for 25% summer discount

City clears 11 properties off condemned list

Eunice aldermen cleared 11 properties from the code enforcement condemned list at Tuesday’s city meeting.
Five other properties remain on a list to begin condemnation proceedings.
Stan Feucht, city attorney, said there were issues with the notices sent to owners of the five remaining properties.
