The St. Landry Parish Council is moving to amend its budget to reflect $7,975,812 in American Rescue Act funding.
On Thursday, seven Council members met to introduce an ordinance to amend the operating budget based on the COVID-19 relief money.
The Tri-Parish workforce grew 5.7% to 68,545 in June, according to Bureau of Labor statistics released Friday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
But unemployment, while down from a year ago, inched up in June compared to May in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes.

Farmers’ Market open Saturday, Wednesday
The Eunice Farmers’ Market is open from 9 a.m. ot noon on Wednesdays and Saturdays, weather permitting.
The market is located at 2101 W. Ash near the Community Garden, behind the Department of Motor Vehicles.
First United Methodist Church in Eunice welcomed its new pastor, the Rev. Katie Glass, who performed her first service there on July 4.
Glass, 27, is from Pineville. Her first post was serving as an associate pastor at First United Methodist Church in Alexandria.
