School Board winds up 3 budget sessions

The St. Landry Parish School Board finished its third public session on its 2021-2022 budget on Thursday with little comment during the presentation by Tressa Miller, finance director. The budget is a break-even one, Miller said to the approval of School Board members.

Concealed carry class Saturday The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a one- day non-profit concealed carry class at 7:30 a.m. Saturday is 211 W. Park Eunice. The course is $100 dollars and $80 for a spouse or renewal.

Ground broken for new Opelousas wastewater plant

Growth along the I-49 corridor in Opelousas is prompting the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility. A groundbreaking ceremony was held June 16 at the plant’s site next to the Bayou Callahan bridge on the I-49 South Service Road, near the entrance to Clos du Bois subdivision.

Virtual hands on

Tools aren’t new for vocational schools, but the centers at Eunice and Washington have devices on hand that allow users to learn through virtual reality. The technology was on display at the St. Landry Parish School Board’s Academic Committee meeting Tuesday.

Solar farm may come to St. Landry Parish

A solar farm may be coming to St. Landry Parish. Parish President Jessie Bellard reported to the Parish Council that leases are already in place for 1,300 acres in the the Washington, Grand Prairie, Plaisance area.
