From the December 2009 files of The Eunice News Getting the mats ready. Workers unload concrete mats next to the gully at 12th & Vine on Monday. The mats, weighing several thousand pounds each will be used by the city in an experimental anti-erosion program.

Kiwanis Mystery Santa winner receives prizes

The first correct guess of the Mystery Santa was Jeanita Morris of Eunice. The contest was sponsored by the Eunice Kiwanis Club. Dwight Jodon was the Mystery Santa.There were a handful of correct guesses along with other guesses.

JD Bank scholarship winners named

Three of the five recipients of the LSUE JD Bank Scholarship met with JD Bank Vice President Kitty Jo Deshotel to thank her for the bank’s establishment of a scholarship fund. With Deshotel are Rebecca Thomas of Washington, Cade Covalt of Iota and Brennus Romero of Elton.

Impaired drivers face jail time during Holiday Drive Sober

Anyone who drinks and drives this holiday season on Louisiana roads faces a much worse fate than being on the naughty list - law enforcement agents across the state will pull them over and put them in jail during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement mobilization.
