Bourbon Street shooting survivor

Ben Allison, 22, of Eunice is one of 10 survivors of the early Sunday morning Bourbon Street shooting that killed one person. “I was at the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Allison. Two gunmen sprayed Bourbon Street with bullets. The gunmen have not been identifed or arrested as of Wednesday.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. November 16: James Lanclos, Jr., 20, 1600 block Little Teche Rd., Port Barre. Three counts of theft, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, and criminal trespassing.

Christmas Ball fundraiser set for Dec. 3 St. Mathilda “Women of His Story” (formerly known as Youth Group parents) will host its 12th annual Christmas Ball fundraiser Dec. 3 from 9 until 2 a.m. The festivities will take place at the Bishop Caesar Center on N. MLK Drive.

Sheriff offers help to Parish Council

Facing a $670,000 deficit for its fiscal year that ends in December, the St. Landry Parish Council examined expenses at a special meeting and decided to meet again this Tuesday.

Concealed handgun course scheduled

A state certified handgun course is scheduled Dec. 10 at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course presented by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Harmony Lodge 410 of Eunice. The course is required by law to obtain a state concealed handgun permit.

Sheriff observes 10th year in office

A celebration was held Tuesday at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office in Opelousas to mark Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz’s 10 years as sheriff. Guidroz took the oath of office on Nov. 20, according to a news release from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux, public information officer. Howard J. Zerangue, Sr.

Eunice Police get 534,000 dinars

Eunice Police are in the possession of 534,000 Iraqi dinars after a man turned them into Basile State Bank. There are 105 5,000 dinar notes and nine 1,000 dinar notes, he said. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the bills are not damaged.

Voting for Dec. 10 election begins Saturday

Early voting for the Dec. 10 election  begins Saturday and continues Monday to Dec. 3. Early voting in St. Landry and Acadia parishes is available at: In Acadia Parish, vote from 8 am. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Registrar of Voters Office, 568 NW Court Circle, Crowley.
