Library is looking for volunteers Volunteers are needed to help build a Friends of the Library organization. Tony Baltakis, president of the Eunice Library Board of Control, said the Friends organization will be the fundraising group for the library.

Parish sales tax collections continue to drop

St. Landry Parish year-to-date sales tax collections continue to slide below those of a year ago, according to statistics released Tuesday by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. In May, parish sales tax collections totaled $42,696,688, down $1,476,603 or 3.

Yearlong escapee captured

Eunice Police have recaptured Andrew Morrison, aka Bumper, 47, of Eunice, who has been on the run since May of 2024 when he escaped custody while being treated at a local hospital. Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef said police acted on Sunday from an anonymous tip on Morrison’s whereabouts.

For people of certain age, the car and truck show in downtown Eunice on Saturday was a cruise down memory lane. Dad bought a Chevrolet Biscayne like that, recalled one viewer. There were other vehicles perhaps being seen for the first time.
