Police officer approved for Eunice public schools

A school resource officer from the Eunice Police ranks was approved by the Eunice Board of Aldermen on Tuesday.
The Board approved an agreement with the St. Landry Parish School Board to provide the officer.

Sales tax collections up in St. Landry Parish

Sales tax collections through August were up 4.2% compared to 2022, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division.

The TRIAD workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the VFW on U.S. 190 in Eunice.

Retiring principal

Karen Vidrine is among the retirees from the St. Landry Parish School District recognized at Thursday’s meeting in Opelousas. Vidrine retired as principal at the Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts in Opelousas after 32 years of service.

Jessie B Road bridge construction completed

The replacement of the bridge on Jessie B Road that crosses Bayou Mallet is completed.
Construction on the project began in February of this year. The project was executed to remove the aging cross-drain pipe and to replace the bridge.

Gated access considered on South MLK
