The St. Landry Parish Council’s Administrative-Finance Committee approved an audit for the 2024 fiscal year at its meeting on Wednesday in Opeloussas. Steve Moosa, CPA of Darnall, Sikes and Frederick, presented the audit to the committee.

Tri-Parish workforce increases, jobless rates up

The Tri-Parish workforce totaled 68,223 in May, and increase of 823 over the May 2024 count, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The Tri-Parish unemployment rates in May were up compared to those of May 2024.

Green energy accords signed

Agreements with green energy providers were approved in a special St. Landry Parish Energy Board meeting on June 25 in Opelousas. The Energy Board is comprised of Parish Council members. Similar agreements were approved in Acadia Parish last week and on Monday.

Conceal carry permit class set for July 12 The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one-day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. July 12 at 211 W. Park Ave. in Eunice. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.
