Barefoot Sunday at Unity Church of God There will be a Youth Ministry shoe drive, “Barefoot Sunday” from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Unity Church of God in Christ. The church is located at 1220 East Maple Avenue in Eunice. The public is invited to donate shoes.

Parish sales tax collections dip in April

Total year-to-date St. Landry Parish sales tax collections took a rare decline in April compared the same period in 2024. The four-month total of $34,266,087 was down $2,040,622 from the 2024 total of $36,306,709, according to statistics released Monday by the St.

Additional study asked for school spirit attire

A proposal to allow school spirit attire in St. Landry Parish public schools is headed back to committee for more study. That was the decision by the School Board for the proposal by Board member Renee Aymond at the May 1 Board meeting.

LSU Eunice to postpone Wednesday finals, moved to Saturday

With expected severe rain to impact the greater south Louisiana area, LSU Eunice will close campus on Wednesday out of caution for our entire campus community. All in-person final examinations that are scheduled for Wednesday will be rescheduled for Saturday.

St. Landry Parish Government has sandbag available at the Yambilee Building in Opelousas and the Northwest Pavilion in Eunice. Heavy rainfall is predicted overnight.

Eunice Farmers’ Market starts May 14 The Eunice Farmers’ Market begins its summer season on May 14. The market will be open twice a week, weather permitting, on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon. The market is located on South 2nd St. between Café Mosaic and the library.
