Prairie Acadian Cultural Center to reopen Friday

The National Park Service announced the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve will resume regular programming at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice. Programs planned include the following. Noon, Friday, kickoff. 12:30 pm Friday, Cooking demonstration featuring Michelle Brown.

Music, entertainment set for Tee Mamou - Iota Folklife Festival

The 2025 Mardi Gras celebration in Iota begins Monday, March 3 — Lundi Gras — with live music at the Iota Veterans Memorial Pavilion. The Eighties Experience will kick off at 7 p.m. with Colby Latiolais & Ambush closing out the night from 9:30 to 11 30 p.m.

Full day of entertainment on tap for Mardi Gras celebration in Crowley

Five live acts will provide musical entertainment from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the annual Carnival d’Acadie Mardi Gras celebration in Crowley on Fat Tuesday, March 4. The overall look of the event will be a little different as work continues on the new pavilion and urban park.

3 days of Mardi Gras activities planned at Mamou

Over the three-day celebration, Mamou will feature music on the northside and southside stages. On the southside, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys will play Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ferral Manuel and Wild Rice Band will perform from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Lakeview Park and Beach schedules Mardi Gras events

The 17th annual Lundi Gras Boucherie will be held at Lakeview Park and Beach. Kyle Huval and the Dixie Club Ramblers will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, with Horace Trahan and the Ossun Express from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. On Saturday, Jason Frey and Lagniappe (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

CDA meeting set March 3 Court Eunice, 208, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will have a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 3 at the Jeanmard Hall on North 3rd. Current members are urged to attend and bring a non-perishable food item to assist in re-stocking the Eunice Food Bank.

Determining when succulents should be repotted

From the Bulb and Blossom Garden Club Succulents should be repotted every 12 to 18 months to keep the soil healthy. Often when a succulent has been in the same soil for a long time, nutrients in the soil have become depleted.
