Prairie Acadian Cultural Center programs The following are upcoming programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is one of six sites in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, which is part of the National Park Service.

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury, during its meeting held March 10 revisited concerns expressed by citizen Rufus Searile regarding the recent and deadly Mardi Gras tragedy in Mamou. The incident sparked a renewed commitment to public safety.

LSU Eunice Assistant Professor Nikki May is the recipient of a teaching award from LSU Online and Continuing Education (OCE) during its recent Innovation Series.

Parish Council to consider pay raise for clerk

The St. Landry Parish Council is limited to hiring two people and one of those employees is being considered for a raise at its meeting scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas. Council Clerk Sherell Jordon is up for a raise from her $23.
