Bulb & Blossom Garden Club wins top state awards

The Bulb & Blossom Garden Club of Eunice, representing District VII, won top awards at the Louisiana Garden Club Federation Conference held in Alexandria on April 9-10. Jean Johnson, who has written a twice-monthly column published in The Eunice News, won first place for public relations.

Saturday cleanup is successful

The Keep Eunice Beautiful cleanup effort in conjunction with the state Love the Boot Week drew about 100 volunteers, according to Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful. The number of volunteers was the most ever, she stated.

Hospice of Acadiana begins annual Hit the Road Raffle

LAFAYETTE – Hospice of Acadiana has kicked-off its annual Hit the Road with Hospice of Acadiana Raffle. Each $20 tickets provides a chance to win a 2021 Hyundai Tucson, a 2021 Rockwood GeoPro Camper, or two roundtrip domestic airline tickets and a $500 Visa gift card.

Eunice school zones to change

The reorganization of Eunice elementary school zones is on the agenda for a St. Landry Parish School Board Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday. In February the School Board approved a plan to close Eunice and Washington elementary schools.

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections dip in March

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections dipped in March Sales tax collections in St. Landry Parish through March dropped 1.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Collections totaled $24,572,915 through March, down $325,234 from the total through March 2024.
