Acadia Parish voters approve 1% road tax

Voters in the rural areas of Acadia Parish approved the renewal of a 1-cent sales tax to fund maintenance and construction of parish-owned roads and bridges for the next 15 years.

St. Landry Parish voters were in a ‘no’ mood

All four state constitutional amendments were rejected by St. Landry Parish voters on Saturday and votes threw in a “No” vote on a tax renewal in Fire District 3.

Tornado hit Grand Prairie

A pre-dawn tornado struck Grand Prairie on Monday as a storm blasted through St. Landry Parish. The National Weather Service reported the tornado touched down at 4:21 a.m. and on the ground for about 1.8 miles until 4:24 a.m.
