The following people obtain marriage licenses from the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Office. Monday, Feb. 3 William Henry Millsaps Jr., of Ruston, and Cynthia Avis Manuel, of Eunice. Tuesday, Feb. 4 Haven Zackery Wills, of Opelousas, and Zoe Claire Witt, of Washington.

Annual Taster’s Choice set for Feb. 26 The 14th annual Taster’s Choice is coming up soon. This major fundraiser for the Eunice Community Health Center is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Mumphrey Center on LSUE campus.

Reed to perform Saturday at Zydeco Capital Jam

The Zydeco Capital Jam, a monthly jam for musicians and fans, returns with accordionist JoJo Reed from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center at I-49 exit 23, just north of Opelousas.
Road work began in mid January and will conclude by March 13  according to Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot. The road work includes from Park Avenue,  along South 2nd and at all the intersections, West Elm, West Gum, West Oak and West Ash and up to Maple Avenue. Southern Constructors crew of men were on site Tuesday morning and Greg Thomas with Babineaux Concrete. The Eunice Cajun Mardi Gras Festival in Eunice has announced its Mardi Gras schedule. The Mardi Gras festivities is a five-day celebration.

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections dipped in January

Sales tax collections in St. Landry dipped to $9,901,786 in January, down $700,637 or 6.6% from the January 2024 collections of $10,602,425. But sales tax collections rose $2,093,400 or 26.8% from December’s total of $7,808,386. The January numbers may reflect holiday sales. The St.
