St. Landry Parish to hold Sept. 11 commemoration

Sept. 5 Free homecoming, prom gowns available Free homecoming and prom gowns will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Iota Ballroom, 409 Old Springs Lane in Iota. The donated dresses are being offered to help students find gowns without the expense of purchasing one.

Young Jays Jamboree

The St. Edmund Junior High Jamboree was held last Saturday, with the Blue Jay’s fifth and sixth grade team topping Sacred Heart by an 8-0 score. The Blue Jay seventh and eighth graders tied Sacred Heart in a 0-0 shutout, then later fell to Iota 14-0. Iota also defeated Sacred Heart, 12-6. St.

Adult tennis league in full swing

The Eunice Ladies Tennis League opened its fall 2026 season Sept. 1, with Team Pitre defeating the H&L Slice Girls 20-10. Team Pitre earned four points on five of the seven courts. The H&L Slice Girls won on two courts and earned another two points by extending one match to a deciding tiebreaker.

Eunice survives LaGrange comeback, wins five-set thriller

By Rhett Manuel - Sports Editor Eunice High let a two-set lead slip away Wednesday night, but the Bobcats refused to let the match slip away with it. Eunice survived a dramatic five-set battle with LaGrange, winning 25-21, 29-27, 19-25, 23-25, 15-11 to come away with a 3-2 victory.

Markets open today

Reminder that it's a new month, and the City of Eunice is home to three different farmers' markets on the first Saturday of every month, including Eunice Tractor Supply Farmer's Market, Market on the Lawn and Eunice Farmer's Market on Second Street.
