Acadiana Wind Symphony concert
The Acadian Wind Symphony under the direction of Gerald Guilbeaux will present “Raise The Roof” at 7:30 p.m. June 29 in the Ducrest/Gilfry Auditorium at Angelle Hall on the UL Campus. Admission is free.
The concert celebrates the 100th birthday of legendary conductor and composer, Leonard Bernstein.

Amy neighborhood, at 901 Duck, will soon have a splash pad

Newest playground equipment at Eunice Circle Park.

Coming soon, a splash pad, and the location is at Eunice Fair grounds.

Above, Splash pad located at the Eunice Fair Grounds. As of Wednesday, the two splash pads in Eunice were not completed. One Splash pad is located at the Fairgrounds and the other one is located at 901 Duck Avenue, in the Amy neighborhood area. The Eunice Circle Park playground equipment is set up at the park, however, it is not completed. According to Mayor Scott Fontenot the projected opening date of splash pads and Circle Park, “I am hoping by next week with weather permitting that is.” (Photos by Myra Miller)

CivicSource offering information on adjudicated property

Nearly 200 properties in St. Landry Parish are advertised for sale on CivicSource.com, a site that deals in adjudicated property in Eunice and in the parish.
At meeting on the adjudication process is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Eunice City Municipal Complex, 300 S. 2nd St. The meeting will be in the second floor council chambers.
Comprehensive training on all aspects of purchasing adjudicated properties, including how to acquire title insurance, will be covered, according to a news release from CivicSource.

Parish gov audit faults computer expense, finds all but one fund with positive balance

OPELOUSAS — There were seven issues reported in an audit of St. Landry Parish Government including one involving a computer data server with multiple failures to follow procedure.
The 2017 audit was presented by Steven Moosa, CPA, with Darnall, Sikes & Frederick, at Wednesday’s St. Landry Parish Council meeting.
Every fund except the airport maintenance fund showed a positive balance. The airport fund showed a $59,000 deficit, down from $100,000 the previous year.
