The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced Tuesday that 17 projects around the state received bids in February. Ten contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $56.3 million.

The special election for the open judicial seat in the 27th Judicial Court District begins with early voting on Saturday.
The election also includes the presidential primary and Republican and Democratic party seats.

Pedestrian struck by train dies

A pedestrain was struck by a Union Pacific train Saturday at about 11:45 p.m. The white male subject died from his injuries. The individual has been identified through fingerprints as Camron Fournerat, 22, of Mamou.
