Basile Mardi Gras festivities continue

Members of the Basile Mardi Gras Association have already begun their escapades for the 2024 carnival season, having performed at the Welsh Mardi Gras parade and at a private birthday party in Estherwood on Jan. 27.

Cajun Mardi Gras Festival in Eunice begins Friday

The Eunice Cajun Mardi Gras Festival begins Friday and continues through Mardi Gras on Feb. 13.
The schedule includes the following.
Live Music, bands, and events are all to take place in downtown South 2nd Street.

Cankton Courir de Mardi Gras set Feb. 10

The fourth annual Crew of Cankton Courir De Mardi Gras will be held on Feb. 10 at Landon Pitre Memorial Park, 692 Main St., Cankton.
Entry fee is $5 per person at the gate.

Substitute teachers voted a pay raise

Substitute certified teachers in the St. Landry Parish public schools will get a raise from $70 to $90 a day.
The School Board approved the raise unanimously at its meeting on Thursday.
