Eunice News is Parish Council’s official journal

The St. Landry Parish Council voted 9-2 to name The Eunice News as its official journal for from July through June 2018. After the meeting two Council members cited The Eunice News’ lower bid for their decision. The Eunice News bid $4 a column inch compared to the Daily World’s bid of $5.

MAMOU – Wayne Fontenot was a kind, caring, loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, and a great friend to many. He was an excellent provider for his family; working offshore for many years as a construction foreman. Wayne was known not to waste a moment of his life.

Farm equipment stolen

Detective Marcus Bergeron of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to St. Landry Crime Stoppers and is asking for the public’s help in solving a theft near Eunice.

Cindy is now a depression

Report from Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist, National Weather Service, Lake Charles: Tropical Storm Cindy has weakened and is now Tropical Depression Cindy, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.

Opelousas man killed in 2 a.m. wreck

Shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, Louisiana State Police Troop I troopers responded to a single-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. 167 near Redwood Road north of Abbeville, which claimed the life of 53-year-old Joseph L. Redmond of Opelousas.
