School Board finances closed with healthy balance

The books closed on the St. Landry Parish School Board’s 2020-2021 fiscal year and the report was better than previously reported with a $5.4 million general fund balance.
The balance sheet had been showing a $2.3 million general fund balance at the end of July.

Unrestrained driver dies in single-vehicle crash in St. Landry Parish

A single-vehicle crash on U.S. 167 near Bellridge Road in St. Landry Parish took the life of 19-year-old India Faith Young of Opelousas, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.
The wreck occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
