The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. March 14 - 16: Kenneth Charles, 48, 1300 block of Fern Street, Opelousas. Aggravated battery, illegal use of weapons. Arrested by Opelousas Police Department. Bobby Ross, age 31, 200 block of Ridgeview Drive, Lafayette.

Peggy Adkins Fontenot

Peggy Adkins Fontenot passed away on March 15, 2020 at the age of 73. No Services have been planned at this time. Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Richard Fontenot; two sons, Jaimie Fontenot and wife Heather, Adam Fontenot; three brothers, David Adkins, Dennis Adkins, Jr.

Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Marcantel

Eunice Symphony Orchestra postponed The Eunice Symphony Orchestra, now in its 19th year, is gearing up for its concert, “Classics by Candlelight.” However with the conornavirus the orchestra made a decision to postposed the April concert to a later date.

Inmate health care change proposed

A plan that would transfer medical responsibilities at the parish jail from the coroner’s office to a private firm was presented to the Acadia Parish Police Jury during an otherwise routine meeting here Tuesday night. Sheriff K.P.

44 graduate from Louisiana Master Cattleman course

The LSU AgCenter recognized 44 graduates from the Louisiana Master Cattleman program during a field day on March 7. The Louisiana Master Cattleman Program is a commodity-specific program designed to help beef producers become more profitable and environmentally sustainable.
