Hospital tax vote runs into blockage

The Acadia-St. Landry Hospital quest to hold a 10-mill tax election to build a new facility was blocked at least temporarily by the Acadia Parish Police Jury. Cindy Walters, hospital CEO, requested the Police Jury approval to place the tax proposal on the May 9 ballot, but it was tabled.

It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of Donnie Thibodeaux Sr., our loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all whose lives he touched, on February 13, 2020, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley. He was in his 70th year.

Eunice Little Mardi Gras run and parade needs volunteers

The Eunice Little Mardi Gras run and parade is scheduled for Sunday. The run will begin at Eunice Recreation Complex at Sittig Road, 461 Sittig, in Eunice. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the fee is $15 per child, and a trailer registration is $10.

Pre-registration for Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns is Saturday

The Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns is scheduled for Mardi Gras with registration at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice from 6 to 8 a.m. Registration is $40. Registration is required in person, with a valid driver’s license required, must be 18 years of age.
