Female suspect in Branch killing found in Church Pt.

The second suspect in the shooting death of a Church Point man has been located, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson. Tyla Meche, 34, of Church Point was found Thursday afternoon hiding in a residence on the Church Point Highway just north of Branch, Gibson said.

Sales tax placed on city agenda

A resolution to call a special election on a 0.25 percent sales to raise up to $700,000 annually for police and firefighter pay raises is on the Eunice Board of Aldermen’s Tuesday agenda. Mayor Scott Fontenot said a committee made up of police and firefighters has been meeting on the issue.
