A single-vehicle crash on La. 35 at Homer Richard Road in St. Landry Parish claimed the life of 25-year-old Darry Carrington of Church Point at about 10 p.m. Feb. 11, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.

A 34-year-old Eunice man escaped from the St. Landry Parish Jail at about 9 p.m. Sunday when returning from a work detail and may be headed to Eunice, according to a news release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Man wounded in Sunday shooting; family squabble suspected

A family squabble is believed to be behind a shooting that occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday at East Maple Avenue and Carron Street, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. The wounded man was in a vehicle when he shot in the shoulder from a person believed to be on foot, Fontenot said.
