Robert Etney Brown

Robert Etney Brown passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017, at the age of 44. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice. Father John Brown will officiate.

Burglary suspect killed, deputy wounded in Mamou shooting

An Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputy was wounded and a burglary was suspected was killed in a shooting that occurred at about 4 a.m. in Mamou, according to a news release from Master Trooper Daniel “Scott” Moreau of the Louisiana State Police.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. July 5 Conley Ray Ortego, 43, 400 block of Acadia Street, Eunice. Theft of goods, Possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. Gemario Joseph, 19, 500 South Mallet Street, Eunice. Two counts of simple battery and aggravated battery.

Eunice man killed while riding motorcycle

David Duplechin, 37, of Eunice, was killed when the 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding failed to negotiate a curve at La. 20 and Woodstone Road in Evangeline Parish at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, according a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.

Chloe Frey of Eunice has made a name for herself in the rodeo world. This year at the Louisiana State High School Rodeo Finals held in Lake Charles, Frey was awarded the title of All Around Cowgirl for the second time in her high school career.
