Janell Comeaux Reed passed away on Sunday, April 09, 2017, at the age of 57. A graveside service will be scheduled at an undetermined date. Janell is survived by her mother Jeanette B. Fontenot and stepfather, Don of Houma, La.

State ranks 2nd in nation for male-female wage gap

Louisiana ranks second in the nation for greatest wage gap between men and women, 32 cents less per dollar of wages than men. Wyoming women make 36 cents less. The gap increases even further for women of color.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony at Goodwill

The Eunice Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Goodwill GoodBUYS Clearance Outlet at 2360 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice, on Thursday. A customer appreciation day was held at the store, which is open form 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

St. Landry Parish school employees attend conference

Members of the St. Landry Federation of Teachers attended the annual Louisiana Federation of Teachers Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel Conference, held on April 1 at the Baton Rouge Crowne Plaza Hotel. The annual PSRP Conference recognizes the contributions of school support staff.
