Voting site coming to Eunice

An early voting site is planned by October at the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court office on the second floor of the Eunice Municipal Complex. The site would be open to any St. Landry Parish voter for early voting.

Louisiana rice planting gets off to a good start

Louisiana rice farmers have taken advantage of warm weather to plant their 2017 crop exceptionally early. “We had a lot of people that started planting in mid-February,” said Steve Linscombe, director of the LSU AgCenter H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station.

Sales tax report presents mixed picture

Sales tax revenue for Eunice and St. Landry Parish presented a mixed picture at the end of March, according to statistics from the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division. Eunice’s collections were off 3.6 percent from January through March compared to the same three months a year ago.

Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society to meet

The Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society is to meet beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday for a tour of the Duralde Restored Prairie followed by a tour of the restored prairie at Eunice at 10 a.m. Lunch will be at noon at Rocky’s Restaurant located at 1415 E. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
