First responders get boost in mental health support

Ty Wooten didn’t realize the weight of answering his first 911 call — until more than a decade later. A woman had dialed 911 to report that her husband had shot himself in front of her and their 7-year-old son, on the family’s living room couch. It was Wooten’s first call as a dispatcher.

The following are arrests by the Eunice Police Department and St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. City Police Monday, May 4, 2026 John Reed, 41, of Natalie Street in Eunice, was charged with probation.

Eunice police arrest repeat drug offender

Eunice police seized more than five ounces of suspected marijuana, multiple boxes of THC vape cartridges and eight bottles of prescription cough syrup during a Wednesday raid at a West Park Avenue home, leading to the arrest of a 28-year-old Eunice man on felony drug distribution charges.

Council hears warnings from basin keepers
