St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting. Guidroz has been serving as St. Landry Parish Sheriff for almost 20 years. He was a Louisiana State Police officer for 26 years prior to becoming sheriff.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation has announced the following road closures: • I-10 Westbound Entrance and Exit Ramps at Exit 76 – LA 91 (Iota, Estherwood) will be closed on the following nights. Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. until Tuesday, March 10 at 6 a.m. weather permitting.

Eunice fire fighters were called to a structure fire at 152 East Ardoin at 4:14 p.m. Friday. According to Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown, “The home was unoccupied. It is located next door to Guillory Oil storage tanks.” The cause of the fire is under investigation. (Photo by Myra Miller)

OPELOUSAS — An Opelousas teenager was arrested following a bomb threat at a parish high school. Kayla Rose Hooks, 18, of the 100 block of Victoria Loop in Opelousas, was arrested on charges of terrorizing (felony), communicating of false information of planned adn bombing on school property St.

Area men arrested in connection with separate burglary reports

A Church Point man and a Lafayette man have been arrested in connection with separate burglaries in Acadia Parish. Multiple vehicles burglaries north of Crowley and in the Roberts Cove community have been solved with the arrest of a Lafayette man.
