The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. April 12 Dontae C Rosette, 18, 100 block of Blake Street, Opelousas. Domestic abuse-strangulation, aggravated assault with a firearm. Arrested by Opelousas Police.

Parish sales tax revenue grows 5.3%

Sales tax collections in St. Landry Parish were up 5.3% through March compared to a year ago, according to the School Board tax division. The parish’s collections through March totaled $22,616,191, up $1,148,477 over 2022’s total.

A school-based mental health care clinic at Eunice Junior High School won the approval of the St. Landry Parish School Board at an April 6 meeting.

A 20-year-old Ville Platte woman is accused of beating her grandmother with a heavy duty wooden back scratcher and picture frame on April 4, according to a news release from Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guillory. Lafayette news outlets reported the 85-year-old woman has died.
