Perret announces for 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal

Candyce Perret has announced she is a candidate for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal.
The seat is being vacated by Judge Jimmy Genovese, who was elected to the Louisiana Supreme Court. A special election has been called for March 25. The district covers Acadia, Allen, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes
The following is from her announcement.
Perret, 46, a Republican, is a native of Marksville, where she was valedictorian at Marksville High School. Her father worked at Angola, and her mother was an English teacher.

Voter information for the spring elections

The Spring Muncipal Primary Election is scheduled March 25 and the General on April 29.
The last day to register to vote in the Spring Municipal Primary Election is Feb. 22;
The last day to register to vote in the Spring Municipal General Election is March 29;
Early voting for the Primary Election is March 11 through 18 (except Sunday and holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
Early voting for the General Election is April 15 through 22 (except Sunday and holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m;

Schoeffler talks hydrology with Crowley Rotarians

The world would seemingly be a much simpler place in many ways if common sense would prevail.
Case in point, suggestions on how to improve Louisiana’s water management systems.
Harold Schoeffler, who has served as the chair of the Acadiana Group Sierra Club of Lafayette since 1974, recently joined with several others to visit the many sites effected by the historic flood of August 2016 to take a deeper look at the state’s hydrology.

Pucheu named port attorney

Jacque Pucheu, of Eunice, has been named the attorney for the Port of Krotz Springs.
Pucheu, who has served as Eunice city attorney, has been practicing law for 43 years. He joined his father in the firm of Pucheu & Pucheu in 1973 and is now the senior partner in the firm of Pucheu, Pucheu & Robinson.
Former Eunice Mayor Lynn LeJeune is the executive director of the port.
The port’s primary inbound cargo is crude oil and outbound is refined petroleum products and aggregate. Overall annual tonnage is reported at 3.1 and gross revenues are $350,000.
