Meterologist experiencing his first hurricane season up close

With hurricane season soon approaching, Doug Cramer, warning coordinator meterologist with the National Weather Service of Lake Charles was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Rotary Club meeting. It’s Cramer’s first hurricane season in Louisiana. Cramer grew up in Kansas.

Eunice Police gear up with vests, body cams

Eunice Police are gearing up with new armored body vests, body cameras and security cameras. Police Chief Kyle LeBouef said officers began receiving the vests on April 17.

Questions table St. Landry Parish budget

Once again the St. Landry Parish Government budget prepared by Parish President Jessie Bellard was tabled by the Parish Council. “I have gone through the budget for several weeks. We are not ready to pass a budget tonight,” said Council member Harold Taylor.

Eunice man sentenced on federal drug charge

Shane Christopher Malveaux, 51, of Eunice, was sentenced in federal court to more than eight years in prison on a drug charge. According to U.S. Attorney Brandon Brown, Malveaux was sentenced on Thursday by U.S. District Judge Robert R. Summerhays in Lafayette.
