LSUE’s economic impact is $72M

LSU supported $6.1 billion in Louisiana economic output, over $2.4 billion in statewide earnings and an estimated 45,700 direct and indirect annualized jobs in fiscal year 2021-2022. This equals $690 of output per Louisianian and $13.85 for every dollar of Louisiana state funding provided to LSU.

Bellard defends his budget in pre-meeting news release

In advance of the St. Landry Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, Parish President Jessie Bellard sent out a news release on his budget and budget process. A balanced 2023 budget would be reintroduced at the Parish Council meeting Wednesday and posted on stlandrypg.

Vietnam War ceremony planned

St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial Commemoration of the Vietnam War will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 29 at the Veterans Memorial located on La. 182 South, Opelousas. More than 58,000 Americans were killed in the war, while more than 1,600 remain missing or unrecoverable.

Concealed Carry Permit class Saturday

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one-day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at 211 West Park in Eunice. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.

Yvonne Huckaby Dupre

Yvonne Huckaby Dupre passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the age of 86. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Terrell Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
