It was John Burson Day Sunday at Bobcat Field as the Eunice baseball program retired the long-time assistant coach’s jersey in a pregame ceremony. Burson spent 41 years as a teacher and coach at Eunice High and left a legacy as a mentor and the head of the Social Studies Department.

Search continues in Gulf for crew members

Quinon Pitre, 31, of Pitreville, is one of 12men missing from a lift boat that capsized in the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday 8 miles south of Grand Isle. Six people were rescued and one person, the captain, David Ledet, was found dead in the water.
