Everyone should do it at least once in their life. Speak on the radio, I mean. While promoting my new book (search for my name on Amazon if you’re curious), I had the honor of being interviewed live (via telephone) on Nashville’s Super Talk 99.7.

Who, or what, is in Wimberly’s grave?

According to official records, Abraham O. Wimberly, one-time town marshal, died in a jail cell on March 1, 1899, and was buried in Church Point. According to family legend, he was long gone from the cell on March 1 and they buried a casket filled with bricks.

Planned rehab facility at Rayne scrapped

Residents along Nation Road north of Rayne no longer have to worry about a proposed drug and alcohol rehabilitation center opening in their neighborhood. Acadia Parish Police Jury President Chance Henry announced Tuesday night (March 14) that the development has been scrapped.

Men face hearing for Rayne killing

The two men charged in connection with the May 2021 shooting death of a Rayne teenager are due back in court for a motions hearing on April 10.

Parish Council OKs probe into firings

The St. Landry Parish Council voted unanimously to investigate employee terminations by Parish President Jessie Bellard, who announced during the meeting that arrests warrants were being executed on two former employees. One of those warrants was served to a former employee seated at the meeting.

Lawyer optimistic Confederate monument will be moved

Opelousas attorney Tommy DeJean assured the St. Landry Parish Council the Sons of Confederate Veterans will have a plan within six weeks to move a Confederate monument off the courthouse grounds.

Police dog donated to Eunice Police

The Eunice Police Department has a police dog thanks to a donation from the Town of Mamou. The police K9, named Amos, is a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois assigned to Patrol Officer Keith Peters.
